CPU (central processing unit) is the brain of the computer. This is the device that carry out software instructions.
- It is plug to the main circuit board called the motherboard.
- There is a large fan attached to the CPU to keep the CPU cool.
- The speed of the CPU is measure in Hertz
RAM (Random Access Memory)... part of the computer that temporarily stores the instructions which computer is running and the data processing.
RAM:
- Volatile storage device, it disappear when the computer is turn off...
- Plug into sockets on the motherboard.
-When computer is in use, the RAM contain:
- Operating system software
- Application software
- Data is being processed
ROM (Read Only Memory) is used in most computers to hold a small, special piece of software; the boot up program.
- run when computer is turn on.
- non-volatile storage = the data that ROM contains will never lost, even the power is turn off.
